Kaymito Studios originated from Canada. The word “Kaymito” comes from a Filipino dialect meaning “Star Apple”. Inspiration for the brand name comes from a street name called “Kaimito” located in Manila, Philippines. Founded by Samnit Ghai who gave life to his brand after spending a majority of his childhood in the Philippines. During his time in Manila many obstacles were thrown his way, giving him no choice but to adapt to all changes around him. All these sudden changes forced him to become the best version of himself, and open an opportunity to a better mindset. This new version of himself mixed with his love for clothing brought Kaymito to life.

Victoria Patterson; president and founder, left her home in Canada to explore the world, Trippy Hippy is the outcome of seeing and experiencing life in her way. With a love of music, culture and self-expression. Her designs express the life of youth and culture, brought from years of finding ones-self. Taking the leap to try new things, and pushing yourself to find what makes you you, is the heart behind this newly established brand. Growing up I struggled with identity - growing up in a world failed by our educational system, capitalist greed dominating values, massive ignorance, and bloodline traumas I was only beginning to acknowledge. I was lost, lacking love of self.

I was always different but I tried to belong.

I never would.

Now, I never want to.

“Chiefin” an upcycled indigenous T transformed into my first ever custom jean jacket, and along with my oldest child the Jean jacket crew was established.

As I grew, I read and read indigenous literature and all forms of storytelling I could find to learn the complex indigenous history of these lands and began moving closer to self-love, self-awareness and a sense of pride in my identity. This love of self and a love for fashion began to grow together. As Nehiyaw [cree] people we have always represented ourselves uniquely in our dress; if you study the archives you can see how stunning indigenous fashion truly is. Clothing is always an extension of who you are, and the story you are telling.

With mobilize I hope to be able to create street style which brings representation for indigenous peoples, empowers, educate, elevates, and helps others find identity.

Against the odds of being a young and inexperienced designer in the fashion industry, Andrea set out to create a brand with a distinctive style people admire. At 16 years old, she won the Western Canada Fashion Week Emerging Designer Competition and produced her first fashion show at Canada Fashion Week.
